Minneapolis Art on Wheels: Heartland Tour
This proposal seeks support for a similar outreach effort centered around the American Heartland. This years outreach tour includes two seperate ventures: 1) Mississippi River Projections: a 10 day trip down and up the Mississippi river with nighly stops to perform, 2) Plains Art Museum, Fargo: We have received an invitation from Coco Sheehy, director of the Plains Art Museum, to conduct a weekend public projections in downtown Fargo, using the principal public buildings as our interactive projection surfaces. Both components have already generated sigificant student interest and investment, as well as support of a number of relevant institutions.

A grant for the participation of two graduate students (Peter Thompson and TJ Barnes) in the Minneapolis Art on Wheels Project over the summer of 2008.

Peter and TJ worked very hard on this grant and get much of the credit.

Request for funding to support two Graduate students working in collaboration with Assistant Professor Ali Momeni to develop content, form partnerships and solidify Minneapolis Art on Wheels as a tool for artistic and creative endeavors at the University and wider community. The purpose of these Faculty Summer Research Fellowship programs is to encourage research and artistic creation by enabling members of the faculty to devote full time to intensive work on their projects during the summer. While fellowships cannot be awarded for the publication of work already completed or for the preparation of textbooks, the awards otherwise support the full range of scholarship, inquiry and creative work at the University. The proposed project generally should promise completion within the period of the fellowship or shortly thereafter.
